“A Little Corner” は作家の祖国アメリカとその妻の祖国日本、二つの文化と二人の家という空間をモチーフにした一連の作品の一つです。 棚の片隅にいる昔のアメリカのおもちゃ、狭い引き出しの隅に並ぶ和の小皿など、忘れられた家の片隅を覗き込む感覚を表現しました。Faux boisと呼ばれるフランスの技法を使用した木目をベースに、それぞれの文化に起源するオブジェクトを共存させることで、二つの文化の狭間にいる感覚や、その狭間で生じる二つの文化的アイデンティティのゆるやかな繋がりの発見を目指した作品です。

"A Little Corner" is one of a series of works with the motif of the artist homeland in the U.S. and his wife's homeland in Japan, the space of two cultures in our house. The old American toys on the shelves and the small Japanese plates in the narrow drawers express the feeling of looking into a corner of a forgotten house. Using the French faux bois technique, objects originating from each culture coexist, evoking the feeling of being between two cultures and the identities that occur between them, discovering where they connect.
