カナダ、ブリティッシュ.コロンビア州、ビクトリア市の街はずれに建っている古い建物。春の空に向かって、果てしなく伸び上がっている様な姿を描いて見ました。
この建物は、1912-1914年にイギリス人の建築家 William Ridgway Wilson によってデザインされ、市内にはこの建築家による建物がいくつかあります。ビクトリアは日本とも所縁の深い歴史のある街で、市営の美術館の庭には日本の神社の鳥居があります。又、新渡戸稲造氏もかつてこの土地を訪れ、このビクトリアで亡くなったとの事です。
 
An old building in the suburbs of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. I drew a painting of it stretching endlessly toward the spring sky. The building was designed by British architect William Ridgway Wilson in 1912-1914, and there are several buildings by this architect in the city. Victoria is a city with a long history that has a deep connection with Japan, and there is a torii of a Japanese shrine in the garden of the municipal art museum. In addition, Mr. Inazo Nitobe once visited this land and passed away in this Victoria.
