Artist statement:

I have independently incorporated the encaustic technique, which uses beeswax, and I pursue expressions that make the most of the unique texture of beeswax and the expressions created by heat.
Depending on the piece, I intentionally leave in elements that are brought about by chance or nature, such as the wood grain of the support board or the bleeding and smudging of the paint, and I value the feeling of having a dialogue with the material when I create my work.
Although I studied Western painting, I am strongly drawn to the spatial expression and the Eastern approach of multi-perspective painting found in Japanese painting.
I am exploring expressions where the Eastern sensibilities ingrained in me naturally intertwine with the techniques of Western painting.
