Yuko Yoshida solo exhibition: A world of transparent colors
May 1-31, 2025
I live in Nara Prefecture, Japan. I paint ordinary everyday scenes with transparent watercolors. My painting teacher is an artist who only paints the sky, but I only paint what's below. I walk around always looking down, looking at things like a single cherry blossom at the base, overgrown summer grass, shadows cast by fallen leaves, withered cat teasers, and cats on a walk. I mainly use the wet on dry technique of blurring and bleeding transparent watercolors to create gradations and then adding contrast.
