The Myth of Kuzuryū 　－　Mixed Media by HUNKEL
 
地元山梨県に伝わる九頭龍伝説に着想を得て描いた作品。ティッシュペーパーを素材に用いて、半立体的に龍を描いている。ティッシュペーパーシュリンクアート。ティッシュペーパーに液体糊を染み込ませて形造り、乾いて固まる時にできるシワ模様を活かしたオリジナルの表現技法。乾燥前と乾燥後の二期に分けて彩色を施すことにより、乾燥後の彩色ではシワ模様の盛り上がった部分にだけ色が乗り、シワ模様の美しさが浮かび上がる。
 
This piece was inspired by the legend of the Nine-Headed Dragon, a traditional tale from Yamanashi Prefecture. Using tissue paper as the primary material, the dragon is rendered in a semi-relief form. This is a work of tissue paper shrink art—an original technique in which tissue paper is saturated with liquid glue and shaped, allowing the natural wrinkles that emerge as it dries and hardens to become part of the expression.
 
Color is applied in two stages, both before and after drying. During the post-drying stage, pigment adheres only to the raised areas of the wrinkle patterns, revealing and enhancing the unique beauty of the textured surface.
