On the patio with olive trees　- 　Oil by Harumi Kiyota
 
一昨年前の夏、ルノアールが最後に住んだ南仏の一件家を訪れた際に、大きくて古い木だが、多くの実を付けたオリーブの木が何本もあって、彼が描いた庭の絵と何も変わっていない事に感動したのを覚えている。
その時の影は地面だったのだが、壁に置き換える事でもっと影が協調されるのではないかと思いこの絵を描きました。暑い夏の思い出として眩しい光と涼しい風を感じて頂ければ嬉しいです。
 
I remember visiting the detached house in the south of France where Renoir spent his final years—the summer before last—and being deeply moved to find that the large, old, fruit-laden olive trees remained exactly as they appeared in the paintings he created of the garden.
While the shadows in the original scene fell upon the ground, I painted this piece with the idea that shifting them onto the wall would make them stand out more prominently. I hope you can feel the dazzling light and the cool breeze, evoking memories of a hot summer day.
