水中を泳ぐ鯉がモチーフですが、実際とは違う、夢の世界のようなイメージを描きたいと思いました。虹色の魚の鱗は、蜜蝋を使ったエンカウスティークメディウムに油絵の具で色を付け、蝋独特の質感で、盛り上げて表しています。墨で描いたモノトーンの部分との対比で、より鮮やかに引き立たせました。
The motif is a carp swimming underwater, but I wanted to create an image that is different from reality, like a dream world. The rainbow-colored fish scales are colored with oil paint on an encaustic medium made from beeswax, and are raised with the unique texture of the wax. The contrast with the monotone parts drawn with ink makes them stand out more vividly.
